Andrew Kelly is a trombonist and educator based in Memphis, Tennessee. He studied at the University of Memphis under Dr. John Mueller, where he acquired his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and Masters of Music in Trombone Performance.

Andrew has performed with many different ensembles throughout his time at the University of Memphis, including the University’s Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. He also has experience in jazz performance through the University of Memphis’s Southern Comfort Jazz Orchestra. Rounding out Andrew’s performance ensembles are a variety of chamber groups, such as the University’s Slide Society Trombone Choir, Slide Show trombone quartet, and Collegium - an early music ensemble involving tenor and bass sackbut.

Andrew’s involvement in the musical scene of Memphis, TN has enabled him to perform at popular locales in the area, such as Alfred’s on Beale Street with the Memphis Jazz Orchestra, Germantown Performing Arts Center, and the Canon Center in Downtown Memphis. Andrew’s musical career has also taken him overseas with the University bands, where he performed in Salzburg, Ossaich, and Venice. 

Andrew has also taught in the local Memphis area as a high school assistant band director, as well as a low brass instructor for several years. His ability to teach has led him to many fine schools in the Memphis area, such as Overton High School, Houston High School, Munford High School, and Brighton High School where he taught low brass technique, private trombone lessons, honors-level Music Theory, and two levels of high school band.

Andrew enjoys striving for depth and artistry in many different styles of music, and he looks forward to new music and new experiences.

In his free time, Andrew likes to spend time with his wife and family, as well as play Dungeons and Dragons and Magic: the Gathering at his local game store.
