Currently, we are working on music for our spring concert.
Please be sure to read through all Reminds as they are sent out.
Please do not forget to pay your band fee for the 2024-2025 school year. We are beginning to see expenses for the 2025 marching season and want to ensure the best program possible. Click Here to pay online.
We have kicked off our Butter Braid fundraiser. This is usually a wonderful fundraiser for the band. Forms and money will be due on January 27th.
All-West Band Auditions are upon us (Jan. 18th). Students at this point should be prepared and doing performance runs of their music, playing through their scales in a random order, and actively sight reading. We have some help sessions on January 6th, 7th, 9th, and 10th until 4:30PM at BMS. These sessions will primarily be mock auditions to help us be more comfortable during the audition. For those auditioning, please Click Here for audition times and tips.
On January 14th, we will be hosting the BHS 2026 Disney meeting in the BHS Band room at 7:00PM. More information about this meeting was sent out through remind prior to winter break; this information can be found by Clicking Here. It is strongly encouraged for the parents/guardians of 2025-2026 band members to attend, as this will be the initial time to gain information about the trip and ask questions.
High School Percussion Spring Training:
High School Percussion spring training will start on January 28th.
Spring training will take place from 3:00PM-5:00PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the semester in the BHS Band room.
If a student wishes to be a part of the 2025-2026 percussion section, they must attend ALL of the spring training sessions.
Students are allowed one unexcused absence from spring training for the semester. If more than one occurs and they wish to be part of the section, they will need to meet with Mr. Mayo and the percussion staff.
We understand that conflicts and illness can arise. If this occurs, please communicate with Mr. Mayo and the percussion staff.
There is a bus that can transfer students from BMS to BHS. Mr. Kelly and Mr. Mayo will be sharing that bus information with students soon.
There is the expectation for students to actively practice in between spring training sessions.
All school rules apply and students should be on their best behavior.
High School Percussion Ensemble
Rehearsals for the ensemble will take place on Wednesdays until 5:00PM beginning on January 29th. This commitment is through the winter concert on May 1st. Once committed, the rehearsals will be tied into the student’s grade.
Students are required to attend all rehearsals. If a student has an excused absence (illness, school field trip, etc.), they are expected to work on their material to catch up. If a student has any other reason for absence, they will need to discuss the absence with Mr. Pilgrim and Mr. Mayo; otherwise, the rehearsal will count as a zero.
Students are expected to actively practice their music outside of rehearsal.
Students are expected to give their best at rehearsal, encourage one another, and bring a positive attitude.
The ensemble is open to any percussion students who participated in percussion spring training last spring.
Percussion ensemble will be performing at the University of Memphis Percussion Festival on April 26th and the End of the Year Concert on May 1st. Please ensure that the April 26th date is available before signing up.
Spring Jazz Band:
Jazz band rehearsals will take place on Mondays until 4:30PM in the BMS Band room beginning February 3rd.
This year’s music will consist of a jazz traditional work and a modern pop/jazz arrangement.
